Selling Baseball Uniforms: A Season-Planning Guide for Team Dealers

Baseball is a seasonal business. Every league wants its uniforms before opening day, and most of them decide late. The dealers who do well are the ones who plan backwards from that date and make ordering easy for their clubs.

This guide walks through how to plan a baseball season as a dealer: when to start, which styles to offer, how to collect sizes and names, and how to make next season’s reorder a five-minute job.

Baseball uniform dealer guide – season planning for team dealers

Work back from opening day

Start with the date your teams need their uniforms and count backwards. With FJ Sportswear the production steps look like this:

StepTime to allow
Designs agreed with each team and sent to usDepends on your clubs
First reply from usWithin 12 hours (Monday to Saturday)
Pricing and a free mockup for each designSent after we review your designs
Paid sample, if you want oneAbout 3 weeks
Bulk production after approval3–4 weeks, depending on quantity
Courier shipping by FedEx, DHL or UPSAdd transit time to your country

Add the steps up and you can see why it pays to start early. As a planning rule, give yourself at least two months before opening day if you want a sample first, and more if your clubs are slow to approve designs. Rush orders are sometimes possible, but always check before you promise a date to a customer.

Offer the right jersey style for each customer

Different teams want different looks and budgets. A simple menu of styles makes it easier for your customers to choose:

  • Full-button jerseys for the classic baseball look that most adult and travel teams expect.
  • Two-button jerseys that pull on quickly, a popular choice for younger players and casual leagues.
  • Crew and V-neck jerseys for a simple, low-cost option for practice, tournaments or fan wear.
  • Premium mesh jerseys with mesh underarms and a mesh back, for teams that play in hot weather.

Our baseball jerseys are made in 100% polyester Speedo fabric in 160 or 200 GSM, with piping, pinstripes and pant stripes available on request.

Sell the whole kit, not just the jersey

Every extra piece on the order adds value for your customer and for you. Most baseball programmes also need:

  • Baseball pants in 280 GSM Speedo polyester
  • Cage jackets for warm-ups and batting practice, in micro-stretch or waterproof polyester
  • Softball uniforms and visors for the softball side of the club
  • Hats, socks and bags to round out the order

Customers can also order single items. If a team only needs new jerseys this year, that is fine: the minimum is 10 pieces per design.

Collect sizes, names and numbers the easy way

Most order mistakes start with messy information. Give every team the same simple spreadsheet with one row per player: name on the back, number, jersey size and pants size. Ask for it at the same time as the design, not after.

Once your order is confirmed, we send our size charts so your teams can check their sizes before production starts.

Make next season’s reorder painless

The easiest sale you will make is the reorder. Keep a simple record for every team: the design name or reference from your last order, the colours, and the size breakdown. When the team comes back, send us the same design with the new quantities and any new names and numbers.

Have it packed ready to hand out

A league order for many teams is hard work to sort on arrival. We can pack league orders separately by team, so each club’s uniforms are ready to deliver. If you sell under your own brand, add woven or printed labels, hang tags and custom poly bags.

Checklist before you send a baseball order

  • Design, colours and logos for every team
  • Style chosen for jerseys and pants
  • Player names, numbers and sizes in one sheet per team
  • Sample needed or straight to bulk
  • Labels and packaging you want
  • The date each team needs its uniforms
